Chaos Apocalypse!

last week GW did a feature on Apocalypse and armies people in the company owned. This got me thinking that I have never done a photo shoot of all my ready units in my chaos army. Chaos Renegades, Chaos Space Marines, and Chaos Daemons, I have never combined the entire mess into one whole army in all the years I have been painting and playing Chaos. Well today I corrected that little problem, as I broke out everything that was at least fully painted, based, and legal for an Apocalypse style army. I didn't bother with making formations, although I am sure some formation or two are in there. Oddly enough only one chaos power is not present in my army at the moment, can you guess who!? The army nearly took all the space on my dining room table, and even if I finished some of my half complete projects I don't know if I will have space for more on this table....Hmmmm...looks like I need a bigger table! ;)

Give or take a few points....Your looking at 9500 to 10K worth of Chaos on the table! Who's up for a 20K Game!

Gunheads of the LoTD

With the new IG codex, armor has changed a lot for Renegade and Loyalist forces. There is a whole new group of units available to the treadhead in all of us. Since this army was suppose to have some exclusive FW pieces too it when I first began, that has now changed. When I first began last year I had no idea of the Punisher, so I built 2 Exterminators to provide my forces with a lot of firepower to mow down MEQs. With the ability to throw down at least 15 dice a turn in firepower, the exterminators were my choice for taking down troops. The LRMBT with the battlecannon was my other choice for taking on heavy armor. This was going to be my plan originally. The new codex brings with it new variants, and also new rules for the Exterminators. The new rules allow for more dice, and also the ability to add an ace to the force. It also makes the tanks legal for tournaments, and such which is a plus for the army. The rate of fire make the exterminators great gun bunkers for holding my lines down. I also have a manticore conversion kit, which I plan to add to this force in the future.

2 Exterminators with Brass Etched pieces on the hulls, and Alpha Legion logos.

The entire heavy armor force with 2 Exterminators and 1 LRMBT.

As for super heavy support, my vision for the army was to run the opposite of the regular forces. This would mean 1 heavy bolter Malcador, and 2 annihilator type malcadors for the squad. I also have an idea for a "Plague Reaper" tank with a few changes to reflect it not being a Plague Reaper. The Valdor tank also appeals to me for this force. I will slowly gather the super heavy support, for now I have 1 bolter Malcador and 1 annihilator Malcador for the force.

That's all for now....Enjoy!

New Mordant "Lucky" 13th Datasheet for Apocalypse

GW is being a bit sneaky this time.....I had to dig thru the site to find this little gem. For those of you who are not familiar with the Lucky 13th campaign, it's a North America/US exclusive campaign. This datasheet was posted on the GW site under the Lucky 13th's area. Here is the link to the PDF, Enjoy!

Alpha Legion Terminators "Hydra Annihilation Force"

The Hydra Annihilation Force is finally complete and ready to deploy! The second part of this summers big push to build up my Alpha Legion forces. This force is large enough to fill every elite slot in a FoC, while at the same time it can also serve as an Apocalypse Chaos Marine Formation, the Terminator Annihilation Force that is featured in Apocalypse Reload. The force has been deployed as an Apocalypse formation once already in a Planetstrike mega battle, where it helped crack and IG defense line and allow CSM force to invade. It was awesome!

Looking good in Alpha Legion Blue!

The Reaper Autocannon is my weapon of choice.....

Fortress of Arrogance

The Fortress of Arrogance project began right after I finished working on models for this years Games Day Big Battle event. I was still on a Super Heavy high so to say, and I started putting in time with the Subjugator and the Fortress at the same time. This isn't my first character tank for Apocalypse, because when the Baneblade first came out I converted the tank into a variant of the Imperial Armor Maximillian Weismann tank. I like the character and the firepower it came with along with Ballistic 4, can't go wrong there. I also like the idea of an Ace style tank so I converted mine to fit with my Tallarn army but using the same stats as the Max W tank. So I sought out another BS4 tank to build.

My Tallarn Max W variant and Lucky 13th Shadowsword

I've always like the Fortress, but building the turret and murals on it always stopped me from attempting to build it. I chose to scrap the mural idea, there was no way I was going to get close to that. The turret was another problem, but after a few builds before it, my skills with plasticard and greenstuff were much better now. So I was ready for a step up to something bigger and more challenging. Most of the building was straight forward, but building the pulpit for Yarrick took some work, and then came the painting. I had to paint every rivet on that tank gold....ARGH! It took me a few days, and most of my sanity to sit there and dot every little rivet on that tank gold. In the end there are only 4 rivets I didn't paint, which are well hidden and no one noticed, other then that every rivet has some gold plating on it. I also moved the HK Rocket to the front of the tank, I didn't like the position in the GW version. The mural area I left empty, I was going to attempt to write the name of the tank there, but changed my mind and left it blank. Besides with all that gold who would notice right....Since I did this on the fly and very quick I didn't get any pics during the build, but here are some after its all done and ready for battle.

OOOOOO!! So much Gold!

Yarrick reaching out and touching someone....

Off to battle we go....

That's all for now.....I'm thinking of building an Iron Saint Tallarn version tank next time...For now no more gold for me...at least for a little while....Enjoy!

Slaanesh Subjugator (Part 3)

Well this is the end of our trip thru Slaanesh Titan Class engines of destruction. The Subjugator is finished and all that is left is to base it, along with some completed shots. The base was simple enough to get. I used the same base type that I used on my Hellblades, a simple wooden base from any craft store. At first I was going to build a tech style hangar base for the machine, but that wasn't going to work out for me. I wanted the subjugator to also fit in with the rest of my Chaos Space Marine and Renegade forces, this meant the Ash Waste for this machine. Since it was the open waste for the base, there wasn't going to be too much terrain around for it to stand on, although I had an old Eldar Jet Bike laying around that I was never going to use, and it also had the old Harlequin face bit on it. How perfect, the two ultimate enemies Slaanesh vs Eldar/Quins. So I worked the bike in as a casualty of war and it came out looking better then I expected with a few bits of color here and there on the bike. I call the final piece "Who's Laughing Now Clown!"

The Eye of Horus has your back!

All the Metallic parts were washed with the new GW Washes, they are great on metal paint. The top half of the body comes off from the legs for easy transport, while the legs are pinned down to the base for stability.

The two dragon cannons on the waist are the Twin Linked Blastmasters in the Datasheet.

What to do with a pink Eldar Jetbike you buy in an army lot, Casualty of course!

Well that's all for this project, for now.....A Big Thanks to all of you who helped me along the way with this project, from start to finish!

Slaanesh Subjugator (Part 2)

Well we now have a built Subjugator and its time to think of a paint scheme. This was my first step into the world of Slaanesh so I had no idea what were common colors to this god. The only gods that I have used in chaos were Nurgle and Khorne, which have simple color schemes. So I did a little bit of research on this, along with taking a break from the project. I found the main color for the Subjugator after the new Dark Elves came out when a friend of mine built and painted his army. He did a real cool mix of metallic with the new purple wash that GW put out. It created a real cool effect on his Dark Elves, that I took the idea to my 40K Subjugator and it worked out perfectly!(Thanks Scooter!) The main color was there, and I took Gold as the secondary color of the model, with a few other colors and I finally had a scheme. I created the scheme simply as I painted the model.

I also dove into my Choas bits box and pulled some icons and other bits to give the model more of a chaosy look. The thigh armor got some Slaanesh icons, as did the feet, and shoulder pads. I also took a Chaos Daemons Bloodletter banner and added it as a loin cloth style banner to the subjugator. It all came together and gave it a much more chaos and slaanesh themed look to the model.

The end result of making a scheme as I painted the model worked out real well. I think I got a good mix of colors that gave the subjugator a very good slaanesh look. I used a few Slaanesh transfers in the end to finish off the model on the banner and arm armor.

The final test facing down an Ork Stompa. The final work on the model was the "High Heels" which I was perplexed as to how I would work them in. I finally greenstuff them and made them into bone heels. After all this is a Deamon Engine, and I was going for a Mega Size Deamonette look, so the bone worked well with the theme. This pic also gives you another good size comparison with GW official titan style models.

Slaanesh Subjugator (Part 1)

The Slaanesh Subjugator was a project I began last year. After GW released the Subjugator datasheet for apocalypse, I was curious about this beast. I did some quick research on the subjugator, and decided this would be a fun alternative to a Warhound Titan. The Subjugator is really a Titan on the same level as a Warhound, without the massive nuclear engine for void shields. It’s a very quick and nasty daemon engine designed to rush ahead of the main force and scout for the army. In close combat this machine has the quickness of any Slaanesh force with high initiative even for a Titan class machine. I looked online at other ongoing project of this type, as well as others that might work for this, like upright walking defilers. After much research and talk with others conversion experts I had the basic idea of how this machine would come to be. So I set out, buying the kit Friday Night one weekend. I worked all night getting the legs right, double jointed so they look like the epic model. I spent the rest of the weekend non-stop well into 5 AM building the rest of the model. Here are some shots right after I finished building it.

The face of things to come....Notice the Leman Russ Bits...I needed the extra Tormentor Cannon....

This Subjugator has High Heels....Heh! It was something wacky I thought of at the time....

Some pasticard for the heels, and at this stage it's still missing a few more armor bits coming later on.....

Little bit of Green Stuff here and there to attach the Hell Slicers to the arms....

Finally a comparison shot with one of my Armorcast Warhounds......Subjugators don't need to be as bulky due to the lack of Void Shield reactors and other wasted things like cockpits for a crew...

For those of you who are interested in reading up on what a Subjugator is.....Here is the link to the GW Datasheet for Apocalypse....Slaanesh Subjugator

I thought about how I could make this guy cool and still keep the Cash flow down....So here are the materials I used....

Things you need to Build The Subjugator:
1. One Chaos Defiler Kit
2. Some Pasticard
3. Green Stuff/Putty
4. A few Leman Russ Bits

That's all for now.....Enjoy!
